1. factors that contributed to precious having low self esteem were that she was abused by her father, she was verbally abused by her mother she always told her she was stupid.
2. the signs of low self esteem that precious displayed were the fact that she wished she was someone else and she was usually quiet
3 the defense mechanisms that precious used to were denial in the end she said that she was just figuring out the type of person her mother was and that it was probably because she was either stupid or not willing to face up to the facts
she was also using displacement because she would get angry at the people in her class and hit them.
4. precious had the neurotic need for affection and approval as well as prestige.
5'. learning to read and actually having people who cared about her helped precious to raise her self esteem.

7. from the movie precious i learned that sometimes people are going through lots of things in their lives that we don't know about and us not being nice to them or being mean can leave a lasting impression on their already low self esteem.
8. I would definitely recommend the movie precious to others because it displays some of the problems that the people in or society has to face and teaches us a valuable lesson about the effects of low self esteem on the lives of young people.
